Karwa Chauth 2018 New Zealand / KARVA CHOTH PUJA

All Indian festivals are based on Tithi (तिथी) or Lunar Calendar.

Karwa / Karva Chauth this year as per New Zealand time is on 28th Oct (Chaturthi at Auckland is upto 00.25, or midnight of 28th Oct).

In India it is observed on 27th Oct. We have provided the Auckland Chaturthi time above. Tithi is Lunar day which depends upon longitudinal angle between Sun and Moon. Thus only time zone difference between two countries does not apply in tithi calculation.

In India (Ujjain time to be precise) Chaturthi starts on 27th Oct at 6.38pm whereas in Auckland chaturthi starts on 28th Oct 2.08am (midnight of 27th Oct). Thus in New Zealand, Karva Chauth is on 28th Oct.

Karwa/Karva Chauth fasting is usually from Sun rise to Moon rise.
